Beverly Yip - Mistress of Ceremony
Beverly Yip was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. In 2002 she graduated from SFSU with a Major in Communications and a Minor in Accounting. Currently, Beverly is the President and CEO of Especially Yours Chair Covers & Linens, LLC and was the featured CEO on www.zoodango.com. As an Alumni of Alpha Phi Omega, Beverly remains active in her volunteer work. Beverly serves as a member on the Board of Directors at Donaldina Cameron House and has been honored by the Board of Supervisors San Francisco for her contributions of outstanding community service to the Bay Area. Beverly has also held pageant titles including Miss San Jose 2000 and Miss Vitality 2005. Aside from her very busy work and travel schedule, Beverly enjoys the spotlight outside of the pageant circuit, as the past Mistress of Ceremonies for many different events and organizations including the International Kaiser Permanente Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese Spring Festival and Miss Asian America Pageant (2003). Tonight, she is very excited to be part of Legacy through Giving.
JD Wang - Master of Ceremony
A Bay Area native, JD Wang grew up in Cupertino and graduated summa cum laude from UC Davis in 2000. Majoring in Business and minoring in English and Asian American Studies, he was extremely active as the Class President for Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity and the VP of Community Service for Alpha Phi Omega. JD also went on to earn his International MBA while working in Shanghai, where he raised over $2 billion dollars for China’s largest semi-conductor company, SMIC, and facilitated one of the world’s largest IPOs of 2003. Returning back to San Francisco two years ago to be with his beautiful fiance, JD is now the President/CEO of reRUBBER, an eco-friendly recycling company, and has helped his family establish one of the Bay Area’s top restaurants, Alexander’s Steakhouse. Actively involved in the community, JD is also a Founder and Director for APA | FIVE, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing the next generation of Asian-American leaders, and is honored to a part of this charitable event tonight.
Carol Chen - Executive Producer
An accomplished model, dancer, designer, and producer, Carol has been involved with many aspects of the fashion and entertainment industry throughout her life. Her professional experiences range from modeling for Versace and dancing on "Good Morning, America" to working for MTV and being the Model Coordinator for San Francisco Fashion Week. Also a former beauty queen, Carol actively volunteers her time as a model/pageant coach, a board member for APA | FIVE, a mentor and leadership instructor for kids, and engages in numerous other charitable endeavors around the world. Because of her continuous efforts, the City of San Francisco has awarded her a special "Certificate of Honor" recognizing her outstanding leadership and devoted service to our community.
Ray Gin - Assistant Producer
Born in Korea and raised in Germany and San Francisco, Raymond studied various disciplines until enlisting in 1999. Constrained to uniformity, it was in the Army that Ray discovered a link between image and identity. Pending his release, Ray married his love of women and craftsmanship and returned to school to study fashion design. With ambitions to create beautiful things for women, Raymond majored in Apparel Design at San Francisco State University. While in school, Ray happened upon the intricacies of event production. As he still maintains his ambitions for fashion design, Raymond has since worked on producing other events such as SF Fashion Week and Macy's Passport and is currently serving as a Project Coordinator for the de Young Museum's College Outreach Program.
Tony Maesto - Model Coordinator
Tony Maesto grew up in Boston but now lives in San Francisco working as a Fashion Photographer and an Engineer. He received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT in 1999 but he is also a competitive International Latin dancer and has competed in major competitions in the U.S. and Canada. In 2002, he co-founded a dance company with 14 dancers and his company was invited and performed at the Lincoln Center in New York. As an established fashion photographer, Tony has been working with top designers and models from San Francisco and his photos have been published in several magazines.
